Ministry Education warning to all Public and Non Public School Principals

You are hereby strictly informed to keenly observe the Academic Calendar of the School Year 2008/2009. Importantly, all schools must start classes on September 1, 2008 and not beyond.

Note that the Ministry of Education, under its educational mandate, reserves the legal right to take whatever action necessary to deter violation of the calendar contents.

All schools that found to be operating on expired permits or no permit are doing so illegally. They are subject to Fine ' and Closure without further warning.

CBL conducts Foreign Exchange auction

The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) will conduct a Foreign Exchange Auction on Wednesday, August 20th, at 10:00 A.M. in its Banking Department. The amount of US$500,000 will be sold. All interested individuals, business entities and other organizations are invited to participate.

Those wishing to participate can do so by submitting bids through any of the commercial banks, where one maintains an account.

Ministry of Education establishes Parents Teachers Association (PTA)

The Ministry of Education announces to all International and National NGOs involved in the activities of PTA, that a National PTA Division has been established in the Ministry of Education, 4th floor.

Those conducting activities relating to PTA should now liaise with the PTA office for better coordination.

Please note that the County Education officer (CEO) and the District Education Officer (DEO) are not to be contacted directly. All PTA activities should be channeled through the Division of PTA, Ministry of Education. The Division will then relate to the CEO or DEO concern.

You are also encouraged to go the PTA office at the Ministry of Education to register as an institution working in the interest of PTA.

National Resource Institution for the Blind

The Cab-National Resource Institute for the Blind in Via Town, Robertsfield highway informs all its students and interested persons that the academic year 2008/2009 registration in now in progress.

Therefore, all interested Blind and Partially Sighted students wishing to enroll at the institute are encouraged to pay a visit at the school’s campus in Via Town right after the Camp Bethesda Mission on the Robertsfield highway. Registration is now in progress and runs to September 17th from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. daily.

Orientation for old and new students will commence on Thursday, September 18th to Friday, September 19th. Classes will officially start on September 22nd.

Meanwhile, all students enrolling at the school are advised to purchase their uniform on the school’s campus at an affordable cost.

Stella Maris Polytechnic

The administration of the Stella Maris Polytechnic informs all interested individuals and institutions that the Associate of Arts Degree Program in Library Science management will commence effective first Semester, Academic year 2008/2009 which begins in September.

This is to inform all members of the Church of Pentecost Liberia and the public that the Monrovia East District of the Church will this Sunday, May 11 launch its Welfare Scheme at the F. D. Walker Memorial Temple, Bushrod Island Monrovia, behind the former International Gas Station at 10:30am. There will be an unveiling program during the occasion. Proceeds from the program will be used to augment dues collected to cater to welfare cases.

SURVEY NOTICE

Upon the request of Mrs. Adelie Hedd Williams of the A. Dash Wilson Estate, Surveyor William Sickey has been authorized by the Ministry of Lands, Mines and Energy to re-survey thirty (30) acres of land in Gardnersville, opposite the Stephen A, Tolbert Housing Estate and parallel with the Somalia Drive, Freeway Road.

The survey will be conducted on Saturday May 10 at 11am.

All adjoining and interested parties are requested to be present on the site of the survey with their deed(s) and map(s), diagram(s) and other relevant document to verify their claims.

LTA NOTICE ON THE CONSULTATION PROCESS FOR LICENSING REGULATIONS

Pursuant to relevant provisions of the Telecommunications Act of 2007, the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) notify all stakeholders of the telecommunications sector that the Draft Licensing and Authorization Regulations have been published for review by the public and are available in hard copies.

Stakeholders and the public may access hard copies at the LTA offices, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism. You may also access these draft regulations on the LTA website (http://www.lrtelcomauth.org).

Responses and comments from stakeholders and the public are to be sent to the LTA temporary offices in the National Investment Corporation Building located on 12th Street/Tubman Boulevard, Sinkor.

All comments and responses must be in written form, properly labeled (LTA LICENSING AND AUTHORIZATION REGULATIONS COMMENTS) and hand delivered to the front desk/receptionist at the LTA offices. The deadline for receiving all comments and responses is Tuesday, March 18.

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

The Ministry of Education informs parents, guardians and the public that all academic activities in both Public and Private Schools will be suspended for a period of two weeks beginning March 10, in support of the National Housing and Population Census.
Classes will resume on Monday, March 31. All County and District Education Officers as well as school administrators are to take note of this decision in national interest.

NATIONAL SOCIAL SECURITY AND WELFARE CORPORATION (NASSCORP) COMPLEX

The Management of the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) informs the public and those concerned that certain individuals claiming to be property owner(s ) within the Whein Town Community are illegally selling portion of its one hundred acres of land in that community.
The public and those concerned are also advised not to purchase property from those individual(s), especially the Thomas K. Moore and Yepomah families purporting to be owners of property in the area.
Management is therefore cautioning the public that anyone purchasing land from those individuals named is doing so at his/her own risk.

The House of Representatives’ committee on good governance and judiciary, in collaboration with the National Democratic Institute (NDI), with funding from USAID, will conduct a three-day public hearing on the proposed acts to establish the anti-corruption commission and the code of conduct. The public is asked to submit inputs through memorandum.
These public hearings are scheduled for Wednesday, March 5, to Friday March 7 at 10:00am, in the joint chambers of the Capitol Building.

It has come to the attention of the Ministry of Education that a significant number of schools nationwide have not returned the entry form for the 2008 WAEC Examinations to the WAEC National Office in Monrovia. The deadline was February 15, with a grace period which ended February 27.
This delay has the propensity to disrupt the administration of the exams on the schedule. The ministry of Education therefore directs that all school administrators who have not returned the entry forms to do no later than Friday, March 7. The forms should be turned in to the office of the County Education Officer no later than Wednesday, March 5, for onward submission to WAEC Office in Monrovia, by the deadline, Friday March 7. Failure to do so will affect the participation of your students in the examinations. Please take note and act accordingly.
