UN SRSG speaks on transportation constraint…
The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General, Ellen Margaret Loj, says the acute shortage of public transportation, especially in Monrovia, has claimed the attention of the UN Mission.
Madam Loj said the Ministry of Transport and the relevant UN Agencies responsible for transportation would meet soon to strategize on how to address the constraint.
She made the statement during a meeting with Transport minister, Jackson Doe.
She said the need for public transport service was evident by the queue of people along the roads awaiting commercial vehicles.
For his part, Transport Minister Jackson Doe, expressed deep gratitude to Madam Loj for positively responding to his invitation and outlined several initiatives taken by the Ministry, to address the hurdles within the Transport Sector, including safety measures.
Minister Doe re-echoed his preparedness to move the Ministry forward and disclosed that the third party liability insurance scheme would be shortly put into place by the Ministry of Transport and its collaborating partners.
