LNRCS President names achievements….
The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) says it has made significant progress since the beginning of 2008 in its programs.

The President of the LNRCS Theresa Leigh-Sherman, named some of the achievements as the launch of the community-based health and disaster management project, funded by the Danish Red Cross.

Mrs. Sherman said under the three year project, the LNRCS has begun the construction of 76-handpumps, 152-public latrines and the training of 26-traditional birth attendants in two counties.

She also disclosed the training of 950-community members in chlorination practices, and the distribution of 750-hygiene kits in Grand Gedeh and River Gee Counties, with the help of the British Department for International Development (DFID).

Speaking Thursday at a joint press conference in Monrovia, Mrs. Sherman said this year’s celebration of the Month of Red Cross, will be used to intensify its focus on rendering humanitarian services to Liberians.
