Northern Ireland appoints new Ambassador to Liberia…

The Government of the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has appointed a new Ambassador to Liberia and High Commissioner to Sierra Leone.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the new Great Britain and Northern Ireland Ambassador to Liberia is Mr. Ian Noel Hughes. He is expected to resume official duty in March, 2009.

Ambassador Hughes, an outstanding diplomat replaces Madam Sarah Macintosh, who will be transferring to another diplomatic service position.

Mr. Hughes served in various positions, including Her majesty’s Ambassador, Guatemala City; Deputy High Commissioner, Mumbai, Deputy Head of Mission, Mexico City, First Secretary, Press and Public Affairs, New Delhi and Vice Consul, Kabul, respectively.
