President Sirleaf declares National Youth Day…
President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has by Proclamation declared October 29, National Youth Day and is being observed throughout the Republic as a working holiday.

This year’s National Youth Day, is being observed under the theme: “Youth Involvement and Engagement, A Must for Lifting Liberia”.

The proclamation call on all citizens and foreigners residing in the country, including students and youth organizations, to execute programs befitting the day.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, October 29 of each year is set aside as national Youth Day in recognition of the invaluable contributions the Youths have made and continue to make in the development of Liberia.

The release further said, the annual recognition and observance of National Youth Day should reassure and stimulate the youths of Liberia to nobler aspiration, and develop awareness on the need to utilize their youthful resources in the interest of the country and for the advancement of mankind.

The proclamation noted, in furtherance of the National Youth objective of pursuing both wholesome and moral growth through training and motivation, as well as inspiring all Liberians, particularly the youths to join the nation building process, the Ministry of Youth and Sports was created by an act of legislature, charged with the responsibility to undertake appropriate programs for young people in the country.
