NEC sends observer to Ghana for upcoming elections - Dec 1, 2008


National Elections Commission sends observers to Ghana…
Several employees of the National Elections Commission have departed the country as observers of the December 7, Ghana Presidential and general elections.

The team of employees includes electoral magistrates, as well as some staffers of the commission.

According to a release from the national election commission , about eight assistant magistrates and two senior staffers are being sponsored by the International Foundation for Electctoral Systems.(IFES), While two administrative assistants, two information technologists, one logistician are been sponsored by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to observe the elections.

Meanwhile, NEC Chairman James Fromayan has also been invited by the Carter Center to form part of the team of observers.

In a related development, NEC Co-Chairman Cllr. Elizabeth Nelson has also departed the country to attend a joint training on Effective Electoral Assistance, in Brussels.
