Liberia observes United Nations Day…
Liberia is among other member countries of the United Nations that is celebrating United Nations Day today.
According a proclamation issued by the Liberian government, the day is been observed as a working holiday.
The General Assembly of the United Nations, on October 13, 1959, adopted a resolution declaring October 24 the anniversary of the coming into being of the chapter of the United Nations.
The day is in recognition of the important contributions of the United Nations.
Liberia, being one of the founding members of UN, has accrued meaningful benefits from the UN for which the government will continue to support all programs of the UN.
A Foreign Ministry release said the UN organizations and its member states, have played and continued to play a critical role in the rebuilding of Liberia following the civil crisis, which the government and the people of Liberia are very grateful.
Meanwhile, the proclamation further noted that the ideals and principals in the chapter of the UN should be made of national consciousness of the governments and peoples of all member states of the UN including Liberia.
