US Govt. continues to assist Liberia…
The United States Embassy has signed a sixty thousand United States dollars grant, with twelve community-based organizations throughout Liberia.
The grant is part of the US Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Fund for 2009/2010.
According to the US Ambassador, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the money is being used to respond to community-based development projects.
Ambassador Greenfield said, the exercise has also afforded her the opportunity to meet with ordinary Liberians.
She said, the US Embassy received over one hundred proposals for the 2009/2010 grant, but following a careful vetting, only twelve applicants were successful.
Ambassador Greenfield disclosed that since 2004, about eight four projects have been implemented, with more than one hundred eighty eight thousand beneficiaries from the fifteen counties.
The US Ambassador said, more than three hundred thousand United States dollars was invested in the projects
