Swedish supergroup ABBA said it was “incredibly lucky” to reunite and insisted it had never split up but was just on “hiatus”.

The pop group – consisting of Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad – have returned to the studio to make their first new music in decades and Bjorn is happy that they have kept their bond after so many years. .

He said: “We knew we had those connections, obviously. We saw each other every now and then, but it was especially clear when we were in the studio for the first time for this album, together, because it was so. strange and wonderful at the same time. Everything came running back, like it was yesterday. It was a very familiar and normal situation that the four of us were in.

“‘Yeah. OK. We’re recording’, like it’s yesterday. I looked around and looked into Agnetha and Frida’s eyes and there was the same kind of feeling, the warmth. and the friendship and the bonds, between us that, when you suddenly realize that no one on earth has experienced this kind of relationship that we have because when you think about it, it’s true, no one else has in a. Sadly people die and they don’t stay on good terms their whole lives, but we do. And I’m incredibly happy for that. “

Bjorn insisted the group only took a break and never broke up.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music, he added, “We are done, and for creative reasons. We have finished because we felt the energy was running out in the studio, because we weren’t quite so. fun in the studio that long.

“And that’s why we said, ‘Let’s take a break.’ And we never said, “This is it. We have parted ways and we will never meet again.” We never said that. We just said at the time that we were going to take a break. And this break is now over. It sounds strange. “
