Elon Musk says he ‘supposedly’ has COVID-19
Elon Musk has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Tesla boss took to Twitter to reveal he’s “supposedly” contracted coronavirus for the second time, but is currently showing no symptoms.
In a tweet, Elon said, “I supposedly still have it (sigh), but almost no symptoms.”
The billionaire businessman added on the micro-blogging platform: “Covid-19 is Theseus’ virus. How many genetic changes before it’s no longer Covid-19? (sic)”
In philosophy, Theseus’ ship is a thought experiment that asks if something is the same even though all the components have been changed.
Elon – who is one of the richest men in the world – has questioned the accuracy of COVID testing in 2020, after receiving conflicting results from different tests.
The SpaceX founder said he “most likely” had a mild case of the virus.
Elon has also previously played down the threat of coronavirus, insisting he and his family are “not at risk”.
He said in 2020, “I’m not at risk for COVID, nor are my kids.”
The 50-year-old entrepreneur also questioned the need for the lockdowns, describing them as a “no way out situation”.
The Tesla chief said: “The question is what, in the aggregate, serves the greater good.”
He also suggested that those at risk be quarantined until the health crisis passes.
After it was suggested that people could still die from this process, Elon replied, “Everyone dies.”
Elon’s attitude towards the pandemic has come under fire from fellow billionaire Bill Gates, who insisted he stick to what he knows.
The Microsoft founder said: “Elon’s positioning is to maintain a high level of outrageous comments. He’s not very involved in vaccines. He makes a great electric car. And his rockets work well. So he’s allowed to say these things.
“Hopefully he doesn’t confuse areas he’s not too involved in too much.”
