Evan Rachel Wood ‘isn’t scared’ after Marilyn Manson sues her
Evan Rachel Wood is ‘not scared’ after Marilyn Manson sued her for the ‘malicious lying’ of abuse allegations against him.
The 53-year-old rocker – who has been accused of sexual and physical abuse by multiple women – is suing the ‘Westworld’ star for defamation, fraud and emotional distress.
Manson alleges the 34-year-old actress – who was in a relationship with the ‘Dope Show’ hitmaker between 2007 and 2010, and claimed her former fiancé ‘basically raped’ her while filming a music video – has “derailed his hit music, television and film career”.
In response to the lawsuit, Evan said his ex was just trying to shut her up, “as expected”, and that she knows the truth is on her side and is “confident” that she will get justice.
Appearing on ‘The View’, she said: ‘I obviously can’t speak to any of the specific allegations in the lawsuit, but I’m not afraid.
“I’m sad, because that’s how it works, that’s what pretty much every survivor goes through who tries to expose someone in a position of power, and that’s part of the retaliation that keeps the silent survivors. That’s why people don’t want to come forward, because it’s – it was planned.
Evan – who was speaking about her documentary ‘Phoenix Rising’, which documents she was a survivor of domestic violence – insisted she was not trying to ‘clear’ her name, but rather ‘protect’ the others of a “dangerous person”.
The model added, “I’m very confident that I have the truth on my side and the truth will come out, and it’s clearly timed before the documentary. That’s the reason. So yeah, again, I don’t I’m not doing this to clear my name, I’m doing this to protect people. I’m doing this to sound the alarm that there’s a dangerous person out there and I don’t want anyone near them. And to so people can think what they want of me, I have to let the legal process take its course, and I’m stable as a rock.
Manson’s rep told Entertainment Weekly after the interview that he “vehemently denies any allegations of sexual assault or abuse by anyone.”
His lawyer Howard King commented: “As we detailed in our lawsuit, nothing that Evan Rachel Wood, Illma Gore or their hand-picked co-conspirators have said about this can be trusted. It’s more of the same thing.
