Myers feared being fired

Mike Myers felt “scared as hell” when he joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live”.

The 58-year-old actor was living in London when he joined the TV comedy cast in 1989, and Mike freely admits he was unprepared for the pressure that came his way.

He confessed: “I was fucking scared. I thought I was gonna get fired every week, and that’s the honest god truth.”

Mike had finally overcome his cheating syndrome by the time he wrote the “Wayne’s World” skit.

The hit skit inspired the popular comedies ‘Wayne’s World’ and ‘Wayne’s World 2′, and Mike admits the films’ success has transformed his life.

He told The Hollywood Reporter, “It was like being attached to a rocket ship. It rocked my world.”

However, the success also coincided with the death of his father, and Mike found himself with a great void in his life.

The comedy star recalled, “I was very, very sad. I got fat. The only person I wanted to see was not there.”

“Wayne’s World” is still the highest-grossing “Saturday Night Live”-inspired film of all time.

But director Penelope Spheeris previously admitted she regrets the studio’s decision to make the second film so soon after the first was released.

Penelope – who ultimately decided against directing the second movie – shared: “Oh, I just couldn’t resist it. I honestly think what happened was we did the first one. ‘Wayne’s World’, and it was a really big hit. So see, when they told me after we finished the movie that they were going to do ‘Wayne’s World 2’ so soon, I thought, ‘Gosh , it just seems a bit fast to me.’ Then, for various reasons, I was not involved.”
