Nick Cannon is not “made” for marriage.
41-year-old TV presenter and singer Mariah Carey – with whom he shares 11-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe – was married from 2008 to 2016, and although he admits the former couple’s union was one of the “greatest experiences” of his life, Nick insists that marriage does not benefit his assets.
Speaking on the ‘It’s Tricky with Raquel Harper’ podcast about being married to Mariah, he said: “That, for me, was one of the greatest experiences of my life, and for that ends… why am I coming back, if I couldn’t make it work, could I?
“Once I’ve given my all to an upcoming storyline, I’d have to be presented with something that I’ve never seen before, never experienced, to be ready to go back and do something like that.
“Because I did my best in this space, and now there’s a new journey in my life that’s different.
“I’m not going to go back and put myself back in this position, because it doesn’t get any better than this.
“I love my family, all my children and all the women who gave me the blessing to be able to go through this.
“But marriage, and everything that goes with it, is so…it’s a lot.
“You literally enter into a partnership where two become one. I’m not cut out for that.”
Nick Cannon recently admitted it was “difficult” to juggle the needs of his children and their mothers.
In addition to twins with Mariah, the ‘Wild ‘N Out’ star has five-year-old son Golden and 17-month-old daughter Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell, and nine-month-old twins Zion and Zillion , with Abby De. La Rosa, and is expecting another baby with Bre Tiesi.
Nick – whose five-month-old son Zen, with Alyssa Scott, tragically died of brain cancer last December – insisted he was still able to ‘communicate’ with all of his children every day , despite the complex setup of his personal life and he hopes things will continue to run “smoothly” as his offspring grow older.
He said: “It’s really difficult. I give respect and honor to all mothers because they are wonderful and exceptional people.
“The extracurricular activities, the schooling, the education, it’s structured in such a way that no one feels like they don’t have enough time.
“Contrary to popular belief, where people might think there’s no way he could be there at all, it worked phenomenally. I just pray it continues to work as well because I am able to see and communicate with all my children every day.I give everyone their respected time, whatever is needed from me.
