Key statistic The Steelers have failed to cover the gap in their last five games against record-breaking teams.
Thursday Night Football has an interesting angle this week as it features the only two teams that have faced the Detroit Lions and failed to beat them this season.
Pittsburgh could only manage a tie against the now 1-10-1 team, as the Vikings handed Detroit their first victory in 364 days last week.
This defeat will undoubtedly start a fire under the Vikings and they should be able to bounce back. Despite going 5-7, Minnesota is yet to lose a game by more than one touchdown this season, and there is still a feeling the team are better than their record suggests.
Kirk Cousins is arguably having the best season of his career, throwing just three interceptions while racking up the sixth most passing yards in the league.
Wide receiver Adam Thielen could be out which would be a big blow, but compatriot Justin Jefferson has proven he is more than capable of carrying the load after registering 182 receiving yards and a touchdown last week.
On the pitch, Dalvin Cook’s status is also worth watching, but running back Alexander Mattison performed well while Cook was out.
Mattison could be crucial to Minnesota’s success, as he’ll face a Steelers defense that allowed 4.8 yards per carry, more than any other team in the league.
Bengals running back Joe Mixon punished Pittsburgh just two weeks ago, and while the Steelers were much better in their win over the Ravens last week, they may well struggle to contain both the passing game and ground game of the Vikings.
