Controversial Filipino host Willie Revillame has announced that his popular midday variety show “Wowowillie” will last air in mid-October as he has no plans to renew his contract with TV5.
âThe last day of my contract is October 15,â he said, blowing his studio fans and viewers across the Philippines on Tuesday. “Maybe October 12th is the last show for ‘Wowowillie’.”
Revillame’s decision is due to undisclosed personal reasons, according to media reports on Wednesday, as the famous TV host stressed that he would then take a hiatus from showbiz for a few months, a year or even more.
“It’s not because I wanted to be sad,” he said in Filipino, as quoted by Yahoo! Philippines Oh my God! âLife is like that, really. i also need time [for myself]. That’s all, in order to put an end to certain rumors⦠â
He was referring to the talks going on in the City of Garlands that TV5 wanted to let go of him, because he had become stubborn and unreasonably demanding.
Revillame also stated that it informed the management of TV5 by letter on May 17 of its intention to leave when its contract expired.
“We respect Mr. Willie Revillame’s decision to retire upon the expiration of his contract with TV5,” network management said in a statement to the media. âWe wish him good luck in his new endeavors. ”
