Rochdale Masters rugby club have started pre-season training inside the Soccer Factory in Castleton.

The club was established last year to encourage players aged 35 and over to get back into sport or start playing, while having fun and making great memories on and off the pitch.

Founder Carl Abrahams said: “To complete his first season in 2021 being able to field a squad of 20+ 11 times over a four month period is an incredible achievement and one of which the club are very proud.

“The club is now pushing for a bigger and better 2022 and has a group that is always looking at other projects to increase attendance but most importantly to build relationships within our local communities.”

Thanks to generous funding from Action Together, the club have managed to secure a winter training facility until weather and visibility allow a return to their normal training regime of weekly meetings at the Rochdale Mayfield home. .

Current training takes place at Soccer Factory (Pitch 8), Royle Barn Road, Castleton, every Friday from 6-7pm with new or returning players welcome.

If you want to get involved, then please send a message to the Facebook groupor contact Carl Abraham on [email protected] or 07792 826918.
