What a weekend !!! Last Saturday two big concerts in Harare and Norton in addition to the usual weekend concerts which take place week after week. Harare received the Star FM People’s Choice Awards while in Norton, “40 Years of Tuku Music” lit up the city.

The day provided great opportunities for our TV guys to show their touch by covering major entertainment events.

Although the ZBC TV team did not manage to fully cover the Norton event, they are to be commended for showing they are ready to be present at the big weekend events.

They were there with their van and cameras and they captured every moment of the event to celebrate Oliver Mtukudzi 40 years in the music industry.

These are the few moments the nation has to watch.

Event organizers should always involve the television crew and vice versa.

If you understand what I mean, when Katy Perry or Usher go to any country to perform, we see on TV, just like local acts, they are covered.

This is the entertainment we want.

Small reminder, when Toni Braxton visited the country, the VUZU team had its share of the clichés, the same goes for the Ringo and Zahara who are still on our soil.

It’s a chance to spruce up entertainment and showbiz rather than having boring movie rehearsals.

It is interesting how popular celebrity news TV shows have become. The West family (Kim and Kanye) currently dominate celebrity news. Kim gave birth to a bouncy baby boy, but having the story in the mainstream shows the level of seriousness attached to showbiz.

What would our guys do if they found out that Sandra Ndebele or Mai Charamba has a new baby?

ZBC TV should continue to keep us informed of developments and events on the showbiz scene.
