The Wanted called their song “Walks Like Rihanna” “the worst song ever.”

Although the hit single was in the top five and received the seal of approval from the singer who inspired the track, Rihanna, hitmaker of “We Found Love”, Tom confessed that he could not stand. the 2013 song and thinks it should be dropped.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at his ‘Inside My Head’ Stand Up to Cancer charity concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London earlier this week, which saw the boy group reunite on stage for the first time in seven years, Tom, 33, said: “This song just shouldn’t exist. Go in the trash forever. It’s the worst song ever.”

His teammate Siva Kaneswaran, 32, added: “It’s a good song if you’re 15!”

However, Nathan Sykes, 28, insisted: “Without being hateful, he’s a fan favorite, it’s part of our history – and Rihanna liked it!”

And Jay McGuiness, 31, added: “She was very flattered which is good.”

As part of their comeback, the group – also including Max George, 33 – will release the LP “Most Wanted – The Greatest Hits” on November 12th.

The collection includes the mega-hits’ All Time Low ‘and’ Glad You Came ‘, the 2010 Comic Relief single’ Gold Forever ‘,’ Chasing The Sun ‘,’ I Found You ‘,’ Warzone ‘,’ Show Me Love ‘, plus some new songs.

Tom hosted the charity concert for Stand Up to Cancer after being diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor last summer, and that’s one of the main reasons the band – which took a hiatus in 2014 – met, along with their plans for the 10th anniversary being scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

Tom said at a recent press conference: “It’s amazing that you can do something that is unrelated to the treatment, it’s like nothing has ever changed.”

Speaking about the new music, Nathan added, “It’s really good, we’re really excited.

“It was really cool doing it in the studio, Jay and Siva recorded in the US and the three of us recorded it here. It’s nice to be together again.”
