Overview
Four or more goals have been scored in five of the last six meetings between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt and there could be more entertainment at Borussia-Park on Wednesday.
Gladbach has been firmly on the slide lately with a leaky defense to blame. Adi Hutter’s side have conceded at least four goals in their last three games and only Hertha Berlin and Greuther Furth have scored more than the Foals’ 28 goals this season.
Frankfurt have struggled for consistency this quarter, evidenced by the fact that they beat Bayern Munich but also lost to newly promoted Bochum. Goals have been a regular feature of their games with 48 scored in their 15 league appearances.
The Eagles’ last two games have featured 12 strikes and more could be on the cards against an open team from Gladbach.
Union Berlin and Freiburg drew 1-1 in the German capital last season and another stalemate could be envisaged when they meet on Wednesday.
The pair have been surprise Bundesliga packages this season and are fifth and sixth in the German top flight after 15 games.
However, the Union suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Greuther Furth on Sunday, while Freiburg conceded a last-minute winner in their loss to Hoffenheim.
The Union have been much stronger at home, taking 17 points in Berlin from six on the road, but Freiburg has the best defensive record in the division and the pair can come to naught.
