The arrest – and that of a 35-year-old man suspected of the same offense – comes a day after police confirmed they “received information about the alleged supply of illegal drugs at a location in central London”.
This follows an article in a tabloid newspaper suggesting that Contostavlos acted as an intermediary by introducing a journalist to an alleged supplier.
The 24-year-old allegedly bragged to the reporter: âHalf of my phone book sells it. Of course, I can get it for you. Half the guys I know are drug dealers.
The Sun On Sunday claimed that half an ounce of cocaine changed hands following a deal that took place at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
A spokesperson for Contostavlos declined to comment on his arrest.
The singer, who rose to prominence with band N-Dubz, was recently dropped as a judge on The X Factor after two series.
She scored a number one hit with her debut single Young in 2012, as well as three top 10 singles during her time at N-Dubz.
Last year, she got an apology from her ex-boyfriend after she leaked pictures online of the two of them having sex.
Contostavlos and the 35-year-old are still in custody at a central London police station.
